Understanding the Challenge

Health Literacy & Equity

In Suriname, the heartbeat of our healthcare system faces a significant hurdle: Health Literacy. Understanding medical information is a primary factor in preventing cardiovascular disease and managing long-term health.

We are specifically focused on reaching those most at risk—predominantly women, individuals with limited educational access, and those living in rural communities like the Amerindian and Maroon populations.

Rural Isolation

Bridging the gap for communities far from the medical hub of Paramaribo.

Educational Equity

Simplifying complex medical guidance into actionable health education.

Equitable Access

Ensuring that gender or geography doesn't determine the quality of care you receive.

How Your Support Closes the Gap

When you donate or sponsor Pasensi Ati, you aren't just sending "stuff"—you are providing the tools for these specific interventions:

  • For the Rural Mother: You provide prenatal vitamins and maternal care kits to help reduce the risk of stillbirth.

  • For the Diabetic Patient: You provide the testing strips and monitors needed to manage health at home.

  • For the Community: You fund the creation of low-literacy health guides that use visual aids to teach nutrition and exercise.

Our Priority Focus Areas

We have identified the critical health crises affecting our population. Our supply and sponsorship efforts are funneled into these specific medical categories:

  • Hypertension: Managing high blood pressure to prevent strokes.

Type II Diabetes: Providing monitoring tools and insulin supplies.

  • Maternal Health: Combating premature and stillbirth rates.

Nutrition & Diet: Education on metabolic syndrome and exercise.

  • Tuberculosis: Strengthening detection and treatment protocols.

Renal Health: Supporting dialysis patients and kidney function care.
